4. My Creative Tics

Image
During my Intro to Creativity class, my friend offered me a piece of gum. I said "yes, of course" and proceeded to unwrap the piece of gum, put it in my mouth an chew it. I continue listening to the lesson and chewing fidgeting my arms every now and then. About five minutes later, I look down and I've folded the gum wrapper into an airplane. I don't know why I was surprised because this is something I always do but this made me begin to look more into other creative things that I do subconsciously. Thus came about the idea of "creative tics" - patent pending. Tic may not be the most accurate word but it embodies the idea of an involuntary movement that is repeated.  The subconscious folding of the gum wrapper is an example of this. Another one of my "creative tics" is stars. If you let my mind wander with a pen in hand (only a pen, not a pencil) I WILL draw a star. Most recently, I've been into these textured stars. Another "creative tic...

3. The Weekly: Pt 1

Image
Hello, and welcome to The Weekly, my weekly rundown of the media I'm consuming, things that inspire me, and my current fixations. 1. Song Of The Week: Silver Springs  You know when you listen to a song several times and you like it well enough- but then suddenly you just get it. Something about Fleetwood Mac's Rumors album always calls to me in the dead of winter. As I dusted off the album for my yearly reboot, I listened to Silver Springs. And then... I finally got it. Something about Stevie Nicks' soulful belt made the icy weather somewhat more bearable. 2. Current Fixation: Helene Moo Sweater's  There are very few things that make me envious, however, there is no greater jealousy I feel than seeing someone huddled up in a cozy knit sweater on a cold winter's day . And when it comes to knit sweaters, the Scandinavian are still yet to be beat. This fact is particularly true for Helene moo- a Norwegian travel influencer who brightens up the cold weather with her c...

2. My creative outlets

Hi, so you've seen my self portrait but I feel like it's time for a formal introduction .   When hanging out with my friends from high school, we were played a game of "we're not really strangers" and  one of my friends asked "what is the best compliment someone can give you?" my two friends replied with "funny"-which makes sense, because they are- and I replied with "creative".  Creativity and my creative outlets run my life so I thought what better way to introduce myself than to rate my creative outlets in order of my favorites. These are subject to change based on what era in life I am in, so here is what I feel the order is now. 7.Knitting  Knitting is one of those things that are soooo satisfying-until you have to count. I first learned how to crochet and picked up knitting a few years ago because I like the look of knitted sweaters more than crochet sweaters. However, so far I've only ever finished smaller knitted items su...

1. Self Portrait

I am allergic to shellfish, yet it seems a large chunk of my life is shaped around   seafood boils.   I still always go to these restaurants, because I love my greedy little friends   and I love taking photos of things and experiences-   even when I can't engage in them.
